Motorbike or bicycle maintenance training is offered to students that have an interest in mechanics or motorcycles at Bridge Academy. Student’s levels of skills and knowledge are assessed at the beginning of training to ensure teaching is appropriately set . Each level of training ranges from the basics for example how to inflate a tyre up to more in depth engine overhauls. Students learn associated skills such as keeping safe whilst working in the garage and how to use specific tools. Students follow the NOCN Level 1 Mechanics course curriculum and can achieve the Award over the course of a year. The training is very practical with students working on motorcycles provided. Many of the skills learned, ie how to identify faults and systematic approaches to repair, are transferable to solving problems in everyday life.
